About Ranaghat College
Ranaghat College saw the light in 1950 as an only institution of higher education in the area with the co-operation of locals. It traversed a long way successfully fulfilling the aspiration of many students. After running a race of 58 years it has now become the pride of Nadia district with its magnificent buildinds, well-developed faculties of Humanities, Science and Commerce, various academic and extra-curricular facilities and brilliant academic result.
Affiliated to the University of Kalyani, Ranaghat College offers three undergraduate programmes leding to BA, BSc and BCom degrees. The two new existing buildings of the college have several rooms for including lecture halls, practical laboratories, English language laboratory, computer laboratories, Central library, departmental libraries, canteen,common rooms for girls and boys, NSS and NCC rooms, Students' Union roomand a computer laboratory with internet connectivity. Besides, there are playground, open-air stage and a botanical garden.
To facilitate the large number of students of Humanities, the college is constructing thrree-storeyed Golden Jubilee building at an estimated cost of Rs. 100 000 00.
Ranaghat College has been assessed and accredited by NAAC in 2007 and awarded B+ grade.
The college offers three-year degree course in Science , Humanities and Commerce (both General and Honours courses).The academic session is reckoned from 1 July to 30 June of the following year.
Commencement of Classes: The classes commence immediately after the completion of the admission procedure. In case the students of Part I and Part II, the classes commence after the completion of the Part I and Part II University examinations.
Attendance: According to the rules laid down by the University of Kalyani, all students should attend at least 75% of classes held in the college. Students failing to attend the required number of classes will not be allowed to sit for Selection Test held prior to the University examination. The same rule applies for the students appearing in the annual examination held at the end of the first year. Admission of the students to Honours courses is liable to be cancelled if he/she fails to attend classes for three consecutive weeks from the commencement of classes.
University Examinations : Students of both Honours and General courses have to take thrre public examinations (Part I, II and III) conducted by the University of Kalyani. These examinations are held at the end of first, second and third academic session, respectively.
College Examination : The College conducts tests as per University direction. Students passing in this examination are allowed to take the University examination. Besides, every department conducts class tests on a regular basis.

Science Honours: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology.
Commerce Honours: Accountancy.

Commerce General: Subjects given in combination of subjects.
