The College of Engineering under SMVDU has different schools under the name of different branches available for engineering and architectural courses. Infrastructure : The university is built in a stretch of 470 acres of land in the lap of Trikuta Hills, the abode of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi at about 2700 feet above the sea level. The architecture is excellent in combination of the landscape. Great atmosphere for effective and relaxed studying. Connectivity : The University is about 12 kms south of Katra and 40 kms north of Jammu. Its a one and half hour drive from Jammu. Full WiFi connectivity has been provided and Netlabs have been provided with high speed BSNL Broadband connectivity for students. Hostels : A working committee for managing the hostels has been constituted to look into all the needs in the residential area for students. Separate hostels for girls has been provided with strict and uniform rules for boys and girls. Conduct and Discipline : All students conform to high standard of discipline and conduct themselves within and outside the premises. Strict rules are there for those who in any form break any rules or are found guilty of misbehaving. Ragging is strictly prohibited and is recognised as an offence with quick and stern actions taken against those found involved. All parents and students are required to sign an Honor Code that gives the authorities the power to suspend or expel a student found guilty in any such case without any advance notice. Extracurricular Activities : Sports as well as various non physical and verbal competitions are given due importance along with academics as they are considered to play an essential role in the allround development of a student. Time to time many competitions take place in the University campus as well as in other Universities of the state.
