About Pravara Rural Education Society's Sir Visvesvaraya Memorial Engineering College (SVMEC)
Sir Visveswaraya Memorial Engineering College was established in 1998-99 by the prestigious and renowned Pravara Rural Education Society Pravaranagar. Late Padmashree Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil, the father of Co-operative movement, laid the foundation of Pravara Rural Education Society in 1964 with an aim of bringing social, education & economic upliftment of the rural masses.

The Pravara Rural Education Society was established in 1964 by Padmashri Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil, a great visionary, philanthropist & pioneer in cooperative sugar factory movement in India. The objective was to provide Technical Education in rural area at affordable cost.

The college name has changed to SIR VISVESVARAYA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY(SVIT), Nasik.
