The Bachelor’s course comprises of eight semesters. As a part of the curriculum the students will undergo basic foundational subjects like physics, maths, applied chemistry, applied mechanics, engineering drawing etc. The second and the third year covers the basic subjects of mechanical, manufacturing , industrial and production engineering. Almost all subjects will have theory along with practicals. Based on the knowledge of the core subjects the students can opt for elective/ specialization in the final year along with project. Some colleges offer project +internship in the final semester. The course is designed to provide the basic concepts, hands on practice and a project which prepares the student to face the real world.
Candidates completing this degree course have blooming career opportunities in both government and private sector organizations. The graduates can utilize their skills in every aspect of manufacturing in industries like textile, electronic manufacturing, automobile, aeronautical, shipbuilding, instrumentation, agriculture, fabrication, designing, construction, logistics and transportation, fertilizers, mining, oil industries etc. The job involves streamlining operations, reducing bottlenecks, improving quality, reducing costs etc. on the shop floor or in R&D departments as industrial and production engineers, technical sales managers, safety engineer, quality control engineer, plant engineer, process engineer etc. in government or private firms.
Graduates can give PSCs, SSC, UPSC, Defence Services exams conducted by the government and get employed by various government sector organizations like Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Engineers India Limited (EIL),Bharat Earth Movers Limited, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Airport Authority of India (AAI), etc.
Graduates can opt for ME or M Tech in Industrial and Production Engineering or MBA in Marketing or Operations and later if desired can go for Doctoral studies.
