DOEACC A level is an advanced diploma course conducted by the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT). NIELIT (formerly DOEACC Society) conducts this course in various cities across the country in its numerous institutes. For the benefit of working professionals, students can even directly appear for its exams without getting enrolled in the institutes. The A level course is recognized by the government of India as equivalent to the advanced diploma course in computer applications. After successful completion of the course one can apply for government and other jobs wherever such a qualification is desired.

Eligibility and course duration


Should have successfully completed the DOEACC O level course. Others who have done graduation or a polytechnic engineering diploma after X/XII are also eligible to apply.

Duration of the course is 1 and 1/2 years for direct entrants and 1 year for DOEACC O level qualifiers.

The aim of the DOEACC A level course is to tap the potential among the vast number of educated youth for employment in the field of computers and information technology and thus meet the increasing demand for trained IT personnel. The A level consists of 10 theory papers, 2 practical exams and a project work. Unlike DOEACC O level, marks are assigned for the project work in A level. The project has to be done under the guidance and supervision of a suitable guide from the concerned institute. The project report has to be submitted after clearing at least 5 of the papers along with the necessary fee. The exams are held twice a year on the month of January and July. You can choose from a number of centres anywhere in the country. Practical exams are to be given at the assigned institutes. It includes a viva-voce too. The results of the exam are available at the website as well at the institutes.

Recognition and job opportunities


The course is recognized by the government of India and successful pass outs are eligible for employment to government posts, where the qualification demanded is advanced diploma in computer applications. Candidates are also eligible for registration in employment exchanges. Some of the job profiles are computer programmer, programmer analyst, database manager, EDP manager, etc. After successful completion one can opt for the DOEACC B level course that is equivalent to MCA (Master of Computer Applications) degree course.
