Overview


DOEACC ‘B’ level course is conducted by National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology. The course is recognized by the Ministry of Human Resources as equivalent to Masters in Computer Applications (MCA). Students successfully completing this course are eligible for employment as equivalent to MCA in the government and other jobs in the field of IT.

Eligibility


Should have successfully completed DOEACC ‘A’ level diploma course. Others who have done graduation with minimum 50% marks or PGDCA are also eligible. No work experience required if completed ‘A’ level through an institute. For ‘A’ level direct applicants 2 years and for other graduates 3 years relevant work experience is mandatory.

Course duration


For DOEACC ‘A’ level diploma holders the duration is 2 years. For other graduates the course duration is 3 years. PGDCA applicants may get some exemptions based on their papers.

More about the course


The aim of the course is to equip students with advanced computing and programming skills at a graduate level. It imparts you with knowledge and expertise required of a software programmer or a system analyst. For students who directly join the course after graduation have to appear for 25 papers. Students joining after level ‘A’ qualification have to appear for only 15 papers, getting exempted from the first 2 semesters. Other than the theory papers and the practical exams, the level ‘B’ course has 2 project works that are to be completed by the students at respective intervals. The first project is to be done in-between the course, whereas the project report for the 2nd one is to be submitted after the completion of all papers. The project so chosen by the candidate has to be approved by NIELIT. A viva-voce is then conducted by an external examiner based on the project work.

Successful completion of DOEACC ‘B’ level entitles you to apply for government jobs for posts requiring MCA as the desired qualification. Other than the government sector one can apply for jobs in the private sector that provides for numerous opportunities. Some of the job profiles in this respect are system analyst, computer programmer, software engineer, EDP manager, system administrator, network engineer and so on. You can also progress further by undergoing the DOEACC ‘C’ level course that is equivalent to an M.Tech degree in computer applications.
