It involves practical training along with the semester exam patterns. A student becomes an "Architect" or can practise as an "Architect" only if he/she is registered with the Council of Architecture (COA) in India and has successfully passed the B.Arch. course. The B.Arch. course is suitable for people who are good at designing and drawing structures and who can visualize the layouts of houses and buildings.Job Opportunities
An architect registered with the COA and holding a B.Arch. degree can start practising or doing a job. There are many small agencies who recruit freshers out of B.Arch. colleges and give them good exposure to architecture projects. It is advisable to gain work exposure this way for atleast couple of years and then a person can become an independent architect and form his/her own team. The renumeration for a fresher starts from around Rs.1 lakh per annum, but, increases gradually over a period of time. An independent architect can earn more than Rs.6-8 lakh per annum by doing multiple projects in a year. Once reputation is set for an architect, the earning potential will be exponential. There will always be good job opportunities for architects in India because of the ever increasing number of houses, malls, buildings, colleges, schools, etc. being built and most of them require proper planning of layouts for maximum space utilization.
