Through this course you come to learn of the historical aspects of preserving artifacts, relics, structures and how the concept of museums came into practice. You learn about the ethics and policies that were laid emphasis on, while coming up with museums. The course teaches you about the archaeological practices, methods and the approach towards preserving archaeological finds. You learn of the rituals being practiced in the ancient times and how ancient people used to dispose off their dead and the burial methods. From methods of excavation to dating and interpreting of excavated sites, one gets useful inputs on other such topics. Report writing of excavated sites and site conservation, too are stressed upon. Visits to museums, give you a hands on experience.

With this course in hand one can get easily get employed in one of the museums in the country or abroad. Other than museums, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and its various departments are among the biggest recruiters in the country. One can also go for freelancing work in the field by going for upkeep and maintenance of historical monuments and buildings. Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) is another government organization one can join after this course. There are always opportunities for going for higher education in the field.
