Eligibility and course duration
B.E./B.Tech or an equivalent qualification in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, biochemical or chemical engineering. Minimum aggregate marks in graduation is 50%. Admissions are mainly through entrance tests.

For years mankind has been using biotechnology as a tool in a few fields, including agriculture and food production. It involved improvement in crops, plant cultivation and breeding of domestic animals. But in recent years, with the involvement in technology, biotechnology has taken an altogether different dimension. There are also tremendous scope for research in this field. There are many research based jobs, most of them and the research facilities are however, based in the western countries. Most students, after completion of this postgraduate program thus prefer to go for higher qualification, by opting for an M.Phil or P.hD program.
