More about the course

P.hD or Doctorate of Philosophy in Pharmacy is a research degree. Unlike postgraduate courses like M.Sc and M.Pharma, it is purely based on research work carried out independently and original in theme. Before conducting the actual research work, a research student is first expected to do a lot of studying for a few months about the subject of research. The idea is to prepare you with the necessary subject knowledge and research skills. The faculty assigns the student a supervisor, who provides the necessary guidance for the research project. Whatever research work is done on the project is written up in the form of a thesis. Based on the thesis, the project is openly analysed by a team of experts and the student has to defend his work during such evaluations.

Job opportunities

After completion of this P.hD program one has the option to get employed in different sectors. One can get into private or government R&D laboratories and do research based work. One also has the option to pursue an academic career. By joining a college or a university one can pursue his or her career as a lecturer. One can even join the pharmaceutical industry for developing and production of drugs and medicines. Then there are administrative and managerial jobs too. For research based jobs, opportunities are very good in Europe and the US, where such works are well recognized.
