More about the course
This course helps in deepening our understanding of human societies. The four sub-fields of anthropology helps us in taking a wide perspective in understanding the different aspects of human existence over the years. Through sociocultural anthropology we come to know of the societies, their norms and their values. Biological or physical anthropology helps us in understanding the biological developments, evolution or how we adapt to our surroundings and the environment. Through linguistic anthropology we come to know of the communication processes and how languages help in linking societies. The importance of language and communication in developing human societies is thus learnt. Even archaeology, which is considered as a part of anthropology helps us in understanding human past through physical finds and evidences. Through anthropology we not only come to understand what we share with other societies, but about the differences too.
