Introduction

The social, economical scenario of Bangladesh, Myanmar and other southeastern countries around the border of India is a topic of great interest to students of History and Political Science. Over the years the graph of southeast politics and economics has changed and become an interest point for research. So, to cater to these students this M.Phil course on South and South-East Asian Studies has been designed. This is a research oriented course. Your research work will be complete by 2 years. The course is divided into two parts. The first year is the course work. Here you will be introduced to the research methodologies, the basics of Politics and Social Sciences. You will learn all about the culture and norms followed in southeast countries. During the next year, you will be doing the actual research. You can opt for teaching positions in India and abroad by virtue of this course.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. First of all, you must have a master's degree in either Southeast Asia studies or History or Political Science or Social Studies.
  2. You need to obtain minimum 55% marks in your qualifying degree to be able to take the M.Phil form.
  3. Lastly, you must sit for the entrance examination of M.Phil course. These students who clear the written test of this M.Phil course are called for a face to face interview. The students must be able to convey why they want to pursue this course, and what they can contribute to the domain of Southeast Asian studies.
