More about the BPO field
Business process outsourcing is about outsourcing certain business activities and services to a third party service provider. Even though the concept began with manufacturing entities such as cold drink manufacturers, it has now spread to information technology based companies, where it is more about outsourcing services. It is a very profitable business both for the outsourcer and for the outsourced company. One is benefitted with the reduced cost of labour and the other is benefitted with business opportunities. Most of the BPO business in the country is offshore outsourcing as it is outsourced to us mainly by the American and European countries. It is thus very essential to pick up the English language along with American and other western accents.
Few of the topics for study are: Introduction to BPO, technology aspects of BPO, setting up of BPO, telemarketing, knowledge process outsourcing (KPO), business ethics, data protection, data security and training methodology.
As is apparent from the nature of the work most of the opportunities in this sector are in the BPO sector, in the IT companies. Wipro, HDFC, Accenture, Dell, Genpact, HCL and plenty of others recruit a large number of young professionals for the BPO segment. These companies cater to global IT based companies, banks, airlines and a host of other MNCs. Even more domestic and foreign companies are setting up shop thus providing greater avenues. There are also vast opportunities in BPO training.
