Instrumentation and control engineering are playing a very effective role in today’s industries. Measuring the parameters of a process and thus controlling the process variables, enables us to have a control over the process output. It is through sensors that the performance of a system or parameters is monitored. The measurements are then fed to a feedback device that helps in correcting the performance of the device or system. The processes are thus kept under control. A multi-disciplinary field, you get to study aspects from electrical, electronics, computer and mechanical engineering. You get to learn formulating, designing, developing and installing measuring equipment that will help monitor and control the complete process. You learn about automation processes that are very suitable for certain industries, where production takes place on a large scale and how aspects such as reliability, optimization, stability and safety get improved.
