The certification program takes a hands-on approach for learning the basics of air-conditioning and refrigeration. Most of these programs have 3 months of classroom training and 3 months of practical training. You are taught about the fundamentals of basic science, heat transfer, air-conditioning and refrigerating principles, the systems and parts and their operation. You are also taught about compressors, evaporators, cooling towers, refrigerants, thermostats, insulations and operations like gas charging, etc. You learn how to install and dismantle refrigerators and air-conditioners. You get to know about windows, split and centralized air-conditioning systems. You will be learning repairing and servicing of the heating and cooling systems, centralized AC plants and cold storages.
Needless to say there are a plethora of job opportunities in the air-conditioning and refrigerating industry. You can get employed with the airconditioners, water coolers and refrigerator manufacturing companies. You can work as a mechanic with companies in the business of installing and maintenance of centralized air-conditioning systems. You can get into businesses that are into repairing and servicing of heating and cooling systems. You can work for storage warehouses, refrigeration equipment dealers, hotels, hospitals and other places requiring centralized AC. You can also work in this field as a self employed mechanic. Diploma in air-conditioning and refrigeration is what you can seek after this course. There are plenty of opportunities as an AC mechanic in the Gulf countries, where air-conditioning, that too centralized ones, are more the norm than exception.
