Course Description of Master of Science in Agronomy


The post graduation course is two year duration and aims at imparting knowledge on plant physiology and soil science for increased crop production. The course enables students with in-depth understanding of sustainable crop production and food security. Program helps them to acquire required skills for transmitting the knowledge in agricultural sectors. Students get intensive training in using latest techniques and methodologies for efficient increased crop production with scientific approaches.Course enhances the skills in students for good communication skills required for interactions with agriculturists, farmers, public, agri- business individuals, agri-economics etc. Students equip with necessary knowledge for its application in real life setting.

  • The students who have completed bachelors degree in Agricultural Science with 50% marks in aggregate from are recognized university are eligible for the course.

    The course provides theoretical lectures practical sessions on plant study, soil management and crop production.The program focus on understanding of concepts of drought, use of pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, crop yield, crop nutrition, principles and procedures of crop growing, irrigation,cropping, conservation agronomy and crop ecology. Instruction is provided in areas of genetics, biochemistry and in plant breeding. Various food crop such as cereals, fibre, pulses are emphasized and the areas of weed and water management are studied in- depth detail.
