M.Sc. is an abbreviated form of Master of Science which is a Post graduation degree. It has many specializations and sub-specializations. Community Health Nursing is one among them which focuses and aims to generate community nurses capable of critical analyzing, reflecting and utilizing the evidences in relation to health nursing practice, needs of patients, etc. Candidates having flexibility and fast learning ability with emotional and physical stamina are suitable for his course. Candidates having Bachelors degree in Nursing or ay other related/ equivalent course from any of the recognized university are eligible for this course. The minimum qualifying marks are 50% as an aggregate but it is advised to check the same before submission of application form.
The admission can be availed directly by submitting filled admission form enclosed with all the other required documents and application fee before the last date of submission. Some institutes may short list the candidates in merit basis and even some may conduct the entrance test for the same.
The duration for this course is 2 full years. These 2 years are divided into 4 semesters; each having 6 months duration in some institutes. In that case, the complete syllabus is also divided into 4 parts.
Further Study options
After completion of this course successfully, PhD- a research based Doctorate course is an regular option for these candidates if they want to go for higher studies. It can be pursued at any age as it does not have ay age restriction.
The course starts with topics like Leading in healthcare, Evidence based health and social care, approaches to patent assessments, etc. Candidates learn to make judgments and to take decisions in practice and have contemporary nursing practice. The course has some specialist modules like community practitioner prescribing, principle and practice of managing people with complex needs and principles and practice in the health and social care of individual.
The last past of course includes short term project.
