M.Tech is Master of Technology and the specialization of Bio-Medical Engineering is a combination of Biology and Technology in connection with medical stream. It is a post graduate course which includes 3 main fields - Healthcare diagnosis, related therapy and proper monitoring. The field needs applications of various engineering principles, different concepts to be applied in biology and medicine. Candidates earn to solve the problems related to biological sciences, to design ways for improvement of health care diagnosis, therapies and regular monitoring.
The course covers all the important areas like Bio materials, Bio-electronics, Bio technology, Bio mechanics, Nano-biological Sciences, Bioinformatics, clinical engineering, etc.
Candidates holding Bachelors degree in the field of science or technology like B.E. or B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering or ay other related stream from a recognized and reputed institute are eligible for this course. The minimum qualifying marks may vary from one institute to another and need to be checked before submission of application form.
Most of the reputed institutes conduct an entrance test for this course. Some national level entrance examinations are also available like GATE which are considered by most of the reputed institutes. Candidates need to appear in entrance test and if they perform well, they can get short listed for admission.
The duration for this course is 2 years just like all other Masters degree courses. These 2 years are divided into 4 parts named as semesters. Each semester is having 6 months duration and the complete syllabus of the course is again divided into 4 parts accordingly.

After completion of this masters degree, interested candidates can pursue PhD- a research based course which will enhance their knowledge and skills to have better job options in future.
The course starts with basic topics like basics of Anatomy, Physiology, Bio- Mathematics, Bio- Fluid Dynamics, Bio Medical Instrumentation, Bio- Mechanics, etc. It is required to brush up the knowledge. Details about Bio Materials, Rehabilitation engineering, Bio medical ethics, IPR issues, etc are also included in the course.
Candidates learn about effects of radiation, its bio medical applications, electro diagnosis, Ergonomics, advanced Bio mechanics and Medical imaging as an integral part of the course.
These candidates are ideal for working in Diagnostics centers, hospitals, Marketing departments of companies trading for medical instruments, Research and developments centers, Medicine manufacturing companies, etc.
