Admission can be availed in 3 ways depending upon the institute you select. It can be direct in first come – first serve basis, it can be done on merit basis and even some reputed institutes conduct their entrance test to short list the candidates on basis of their performance in the same.
The duration for this course is 3 regular years. These 3 years are equivalent to 6 semesters in some institutes.
Further Study options
After completion of this graduation degree, higher qualification is advisable to have better opportunities. Candidates can pursue M.Sc. in PCFS, M.Sc. in Forensic Science, MBA or any other related course. Candidates with interest in teaching can go for B.Ed and then M.Ed.
PhD is again an excellent option to enter the scientific world of science.
The course starts with all the basics of Physics, Chemistry and Forensic Science. It teaches about Organic and Inorganic chemistry, principles and theories of Physics and introductory forensic science including criminalistics during initial days. A part of course also includes fundamentals of biology, environmental studies and laws related to forensic science.
The last part of course includes teaching about instrumentation and Investigation techniques, basics of Computer science and some part of Mathematics and statistics.
The courser includes lab sessions for chemistry, biology and forensic science to perform experiments which enable better understanding.
These candidates can work in Forensic labs, Fingerprint bureaus, police forces, Chemical industries, research science firms, etc.
