M.Pharm is Master of Pharmacy and it is a post graduation course from the field of Pharmacy. Pharmacology is a combination of medicine and biology and deals with study about drugs and their actions on living system. It focuses on the interactions of chemicals and living organisms which results in various biochemical functions, either normal or abnormal. In this regard, if any substance is having medicinal properties and can be used as drugs, they are considered as pharmaceutical products.
Candidates having good communication skills, research aptitude and patience to work for longer hours are suitable for this course.
Candidates holding bachelor of Pharmacy from a reputed institute or university are eligible for his course. The minimum qualifying marks must be 55% or higher but it may vary from one institute to another and should be checked before application submission. Some institute may also have age restriction and can be inquired.
Admission procedures vary from institute to institute. It can be direct, through merit or through entrance test.
The common in all cases is submission of duly filled form enclosed with all other required documents and application fee before last date.
The duration is 2 years for this course. These 2 years are divided into semesters in some institutes. The whole curriculum includes theory classes and practical sessions to support better understanding.
Further Study options
After completion of M.Pharm in Pharmacology, candidates become eligible for have good jobs but still is a candidate wants to study further, he or she can enroll for PhD or Doctor of Philosophy. It is a research based course with excellent job opportunities in scientific world.
This course includes theory as well as practical labs in its syllabus. Candidates learn about Systemic pharmacology, Drug therapy, drug evaluation, pharmaco therapeutics, advanced pharmacological techniques and many more.
The later part of course focuses in study about pharmaceutical medicines, recent advancements in the field of pharmacology, clinical evaluation and it’s related with molecular biology, etc.
The course also includes lab practical related to Pharmacology practices and research project for 1 year.

They can become researcher, data manager, Analytical chemist, medical transcript, lab technician, drug inspector, regulatory manager, lecturer or professor.
