B.Sc. is Bachelor of Science and it is a Graduation level course. B.Sc. can be pursued in different subjects with different scopes. The field of Physical Education (P.E.), Health Education (H.E.) and Sports supports the candidates to understand about psychomotor learning in different settings of playing games. Candidates learn about cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance, muscular strength, body composition, flexibility and other related topics.
Different scientific methods which are in use to examine the physical activities and exercise are an important part of this course.
This course is to be pursued on regular basis only.
Admissions are simple in most of the institutes and that includes submission of filled application form, other asked documents copies and application fee.
A physical fitness test is compulsory for admission in this course. Institutes conduct the same and then only they short list the candidates for admissions.
12th passed candidates who have pursued the same from a recognized institute and board are eligible for this course. The minimum qualifying marks should be 55% in most of the institutes but it is better to check the same before submitting the filled application form.
The age criteria are also to be checked before hand.
Some institutes reserve some seats for candidates who have given excellent performances during their 12th in various activities related to Physical activities including games.
The duration for this course is 3 regular years. These 3 years may or may not be divided in to semesters depending upon the institute you select.
Further Study options
After completion of this course, higher studies are advised to have better jobs in future. Interested candidates can go for Master of Science is Physical Education, Health Education and Sports, M.P.Ed., M.Phil and then PhD.
The course syllabus has 3 main parts- physiology, nutrition and psychology. English and regional languages are compulsory in this course.
Candidates learn about Anatomy, Physiology, and importance of sports in development, etc during initial phase of course. Then they study about theory of games and sports which also includes details of athletics and gymnastics, kinesiology, Bio- Mechanics, fundamentals of sports trainings, physiology of exercise, first aid, rehabilitation and many more.
These candidates can work in Schools and colleges as a sport trainer or teacher. They can also work in health consultancy firs, sports clubs, nursing homes, etc.
They can become dietician, assistant public health engineer, health advice officer, etc very easily.
