Admissions are mostly done through entrance examinations. These can be of national level, state level or institute level. Candidates performing well in exams get short listed for an interview and final selection will be done on the basis of over all performance of a candidate.
The duration for this course is 2 regular years. These 2 years are divided into 4 semesters. Each semester is having 6 months duration and ends with final examination. Candidates need to qualify each semester separately.
Further Study options
After completion of this course, candidates are eligible for getting good reputed jobs depending upon their skills. If candidates still have interest in studying further, PhD is an option. It is a research based course and can be pursued at any stage.
The course teaches about basic human anatomy, digital image processing and its applications, physiology, pathology, etc during the initial phase of course. Then candidates learn about biomedical instrumentation, medical imaging, telemedicine, pattern recognition, machine intelligence in medicine and many more such topics during the course.
Some lab sessions are also there to have better understanding about medical imaging, image processing and telemedicine.
The course includes a short term project at the end of the course and candidates need to submit the thesis before ending to successfully qualifying the course.
These candidates can become technical specialist, casualty medical officer, research analyst, lead image analysis researcher, production engineer, etc depending upon their skills and interest.
