Here in this course you get to learn all about electrical machines like transformers, motors and generators. You learn in details about their working principles and applications. You learn about direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) machines. You will be analyzing them in detail their physical design, construction, magnetic field diagram, electrical circuit and their operation including parallel running. You will be learning about the various parameters of these machines, their starting methods, speed control and braking. The entire course that gets covered in four semesters, follows a curriculum that allows you to learn through classroom teaching, lectures, seminars, workshops and laboratory works. The program has an element of research involved into it. There are project works and assignments that need you to solve numerical problems based on the design and performance of the respective electrical machine. Through laboratory work, you are provided a kind of hands-on experience into the operating principle and working of these machines.
