M.Tech is the abbreviated form of Master of Technology which is a Post Graduation level degree course in the field of Technology. M.Tech in Computer Science Engineering is focused on developing professionals well equipped with in-depth knowledge and skills for developing innovative solutions to support advanced and modern computing industries. Candidates learn about system integration, security of systems, distributed and embedded systems, software engineering, the system-on-chip, algorithms, digital systems and other related topics.
Candidates having sound knowledge of mathematics, physics, and chemistry and are willing to pursue advanced studies in the area of computer science are suitable for this course.
To become eligible for this course, candidates should have completed their Graduation in B.E. or B.Tech with specialization in the computer-related subject like CSE, IT, MCA, M.Sc. IT, etc. This must be pursued from a recognized institute and should have secured 50% marks or higher as aggregate.
Admissions are offered through screening on the basis of performance in Entrance test in most of the reputed institutes. Some institutes also conduct interview sessions after entrance test. Candidates need to submit their duly filled application form and all other required documents before the last date.
The duration is 2 regular years of this course. These 2 years are divided into 4 equal semesters; each having 6 months duration.
Further Study options
After successfully completing this course, deserving candidates can get a good job very easily. If still a candidate wants to pursue higher studies, research-based Ph.D. is an option for them. Through this course, they will be able to conduct their own research on the topic of their interest after approval from their supervisor.
Ph.D. does not have any age restriction in most of the institutes, so candidates can pursue it as per their suitability and availability.
The course includes different parts like theory classes, practical lab sessions, seminars and short-term project. It starts with basic theory classes teaching about design and analysis of algorithms, object-oriented data structure, advanced computer architecture, discrete mathematical structures, etc. The candidates learn about VLSI designing, embedded systems, principles of programming languages, computer graphics, etc through lab practice.
They can work in IT companies, websites related firms, data cloud firms, banks, etc. They can work as a software programmer, Technical analyst, Network administrator, software designer, etc as per their interest.
