Introduction

System automation is a electronics oriented subject. The students who have completed their B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics and Communications Engineering will find this course as a very apt career choice. You will learn how to design the basic rules on which a machine will run. You will learn to design generic or customized automated machines. Such engineers can quickly find placements in countries abroad. In fact, a lot of engineers are recruited in Singapore for the past 10 years. You should however, think of starting your career in India first. If you gain expertise in your home country, you will automatically get placement offers from abroad countries. This is a 2 year course. You will be able to apply for internships in hardware manufacturing companies once you complete your first year in this course. To become a full time employee, you will have to prove your expertise.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. The students who wish to study this course must complete a B.Tech or B.E. degree first. Students from any other stream are not allowed to study this course.
  2. You can specialize in only those subjects in B.Tech which are related to this M.E. course. For example, you can study a B.Tech degree in Electronics or Electrical or Electronics and Communications or Mechanical Engineering.
  3. The students must obtain a minimum of 60% marks in their graduation. If any student obtains a lesser percentage, then he will not be allowed to sit for the entrance examination.
  4. The students who satisfy the above criterion will be called for the M.E. entrance examination. If the student clears the entrance examination, then he or she can study this M.E. course.


Future Job Scenario

  1. Initially, you will become a system tester. Your job will be to test the designed machines for any flaw. You will have to maintain a report on the systems examined by you.
  2. After around 4 years of experience in this field, you will become a junior automation engineer. Your job will be to build quality automation frameworks for automation testing. After few more years you will be promoted to the post of a senior automation engineer.
  3. Since you will gain certain knowledge in process automation, you can become a process engineer.
  4. You can become a system analyst. Your job will be to examine the design strategy of a hardware.
  5. You can become a quality assurance engineer. You will have to manually test the systems and examine their quality.
