Overview on the course and eligibility details
This course does not have much of a restriction for getting admitted into it. Most colleges offering B.Sc. in zoology don't even go for any admission test. Some that do hold entrance examinations take candidates if they have passed in the entrance examination.
To be eligible to sit for the entrance examination, you must have passed higher secondary examination with minimum 55% marks. Another thing that is important is that you must have your qualifying degree in science. It would be advantageous for you if you had biology as one of the subjects in your H.S.C. rather than computer science or mathematics. This is because in B.Sc on zoology course you are going to study embryology and evolution of three genres of animals.
a)one who are extinct,
b) those who have survived the extinction phase, and
c) those which are evolving and may deviate from their ancestral features in future.
Additional details on this course
Let me tell you one thing that some colleges might raise their admission criteria to 60% in the aggregate score of H.S.C. This depends on the decision of the administrative department of the college. Generally if the cut-off criteria is this high then admission is conducted purely on the basis of merit and no further entrance examination is conducted.
There is a huge scope of research once you pass this course. Those who are interested in higher studies might go for a subsequent M.Sc. in this course. Then they might work as trainees in research laboratories. You can even go for a 2 year B.ed. course after B.Sc. instead of doing an M.Sc. Then you will be eligible for teaching life sciences in government or private schools.
