Master of technology is addressed as M.Tech in most of the cases. It is a Post Graduation level degree course in the field of Technology. It is available in many subjects and Bio Mineral Processing is one among them with good job prospects in future. The course includes an advanced teaching of processes and concepts related to commercial techniques involved in metal-extraction. Bio-mineral processing is the domain which includes metal mining from ores, industrial wastes, concentrates, overburdens, etc using microorganisms and their metabolites.
Candidates learn about concentrator tailings, metal-containing ores, newly mined run of mine material and other related processes through this course.
Being a professional course with excellent jobs, there is a competition for admissions. Candidates need to appear in entrance tests and counseling for getting admissions. These entrance tests can be of a national level like GATE, state level, and even institute level.
In all the cases, candidates need to submit their duly filled application form before the last date of submission.
The course requires candidates who have successfully completed their graduation degree in the same or related stream. Candidates holding Bachelor of Technology or Bachelor of engineering in Bio Mineral Processing are eligible for this course. The degree must be pursued from a recognized institute or university and candidates must have secured 60% marks as an aggregate in the same.
There is an age restriction for this course but it varies from one institute to another, so it is advised that candidates should check the same before submitting their applications.
The duration of this course is 2 years. These 2 years are divided into 4 semesters, each having 6 months duration. This course is not available through correspondence or in part-time mode, so this duration is fixed.
Further Study options
After completion of this Master’s course, candidates can enter the scientific world by pursuing Ph.D. in Bio Miner processing. It is a research-based course and gives the Doctorate degree at the end.
The course includes detailed study about Mineral Processing, Microbiology, Economic Geology, Advanced numeral methods, waste management and statistic pollution control. It also includes hydrometallurgy, Material management, coal beneficiation, Size enlargement processes, etc.
The latter part of the course includes study of Extractive metallurgy, Bio-leaching, Material handling system and process control and instrumentation.
These candidates can become Mineral Process Engineer, Mines Assistant, Mine Technician, Mineral processing operator, Metallurgist, etc very easily.
