The B.Arch. (Bachelor of Architecture) with specialization in Building Construction and Technology is an undergraduate course in India that can last up to a period of 5 years. It involves practical training along with the semester exam patterns. A student becomes an "Architect" or can practise as an "Architect" only if he/she has successfully passed the B.Arch(Building Construction & Tech.) course. An architect registered with the COA and holding a B.Arch. (Building Construction & Tech.) degree can start practising or doing a job. There are many small agencies who recruit freshers out of B.Arch. (Building Construction & Tech.) colleges and give them good exposure to Building Construction Technology projects. It is advisable to gain work exposure this way for atleast couple of years and then a person can become an independent architect (in Building Construction & Tech.) and form his/her own team. The pay package for a construction architect fresher starts from around Rs.1 lakh per annum, and increases gradually over a period of time. An independent architect specialized in Building Construction & Technology can earn more than Rs.6 lakh per annum by doing multiple Construction projects in a year.
