This four year course comprises of various applied science subjects in the first year followed by core and elective courses in the next three years. Typical subjects in this course are thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, structural dynamics, flight dynamics, aerospace propulsion, structural analysis, electronic systems, aircraft design, aircraft electronics, ground vehicle systems, transportation systems, aerodynamics and fluid dynamics, aircraft structures and materials, structural design and engineering, instrumentation and communication, navigational guidance and control systems etc. A few subject names could change as per university curriculum. In the final year, the student is expected to work in a group and carry out a project activity.
A candidate completing aerospace engineeringis in demand in aircraft divisions, airline industries and air turbine production plants. They take up a job in design, development, and maintenance in either private or government sectors like ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization), Civil Aviation Department, National Aeronautical Laboratory, Defense Research and Development Laboratories (DRDO) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) etc.
In case the graduate wishes, he can opt for research in an area of interest and carry out doctoral research.
