B.Sc. is Bachelor of Science and it is an undergraduate level degree course in the field of science. It has many different specializations like Zoology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Botany, Microbiology, Mathematics, and many more. B.Sc. in CBZ that is Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology, is a combined course which teaches about all the three subjects in detail. Candidates learn about the science of matter in more specialized manner and learn about its composition, structure, behavior, properties, and the changes it undergoes during any chemical reaction. They also learn about plant biology which includes study about algae, fungi, their growth, reproduction, development, chemical properties, structure, metabolism, etc. as a part of Botany.
The Zoology branch of the course deals with the topics like animal kingdom, their structure, embryology, classification, evolution, etc for both living and extinct animals.
The course is practical in nature and includes many lab sessions; hence it cannot be pursued through correspondence.
Candidates who have completed their 12th board examinations from recognized board and registered institutes are eligible for this course. They must have secured at least 55% marks if they are willing to get admission in a reputed college.
Admissions can be availed directly, on a merit basis or through entrance tests depending upon the institute you select for the admission.
The duration of this course is 3 years or 6 semesters.
Further Study options
After completion of this course, candidates are advised to continue their studies to have better opportunities in future. They should enroll in Master’s degree course in the same or related subject. After that, M.Phil can be done is the same field.
Candidates having research aptitude should enroll in Ph.D. to have the scientific career.
The course has main 3 parts- Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology. The Chemistry part of the course includes basics of all the 3 chemistry- Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry.
It includes both theory and practical sessions equally. The Botany part of the course teaches about cell biology, Diversities of microbes, plant anatomy, biology and diversities of seed plants, Plat embryology, etc.
The Zoology part of the course includes study about life and diversity of protozoa, helminths, arthropod, hemichordate, and chordate.
These candidates can work in academic institutes, research labs, museums, plant nurseries, agricultural-related firms, pharmaceutical companies, environmental agencies, etc. They can start their own tuition classes, pharmacist shops, and can even work in private clinics also.
