Master of Technology or M.Tech. is a post-graduate level degree course in the technical stream. To perform extraordinarily in the course, candidates should have a strong grip over computer applications related to the component production, production planning, process planning, etc.

Candidates who have completed Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology from a recognized institute and have secured at least 50% as an aggregate are eligible for this course. The minimum required age varies from one institute to another, so candidates are advised to check the same from the selected institute before submitting the application.
For Admissions, candidates need to submit the filled application forms in the selected institutes before the last date of submission. Application forms must be attached to other required documents as mentioned in the prospectus.
Admissions in most of the reputed institutes are offered on the basis of performance of candidates in entrance tests. These can be of the National level like GATE, state level or institute level and candidates scoring top ranks can get admissions in top-ranked institute very easily.
The duration of this course is 2 years or 4 semesters. Each semester is having 6 months duration.
Further Study options
After completion of this course, candidates become eligible to get a reputed job but still if someone wants to pursue higher studies, he or she can enroll in Ph.D. or Doctor of Philosophy. It is a research-based course during which candidates learn through conducting different experiments.
The initial duration of the course includes topics like Advance heat transfer, finite element methods, different experimental techniques, the theory of elasticity and stress analysis. Candidates also learn about the design of heat exchangers, the design of pressure vessel, principles and designing of process equipment, etc during the course.
The course also includes some seminars, guest lectures, and some short-term projects.
The main employment areas for these candidates are academic institutions, research centers, chemical and steel plants, plant modification centers, petrochemical and fertilizer companies, etc.
They can work as a manager, sale engineer, industrial engineer, etc very easily.
