M.Tech or Master of Technology is a Post Graduation degree course in a Technical stream and is available in many subjects. M.Tech in CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/ Computer Aided Manufacturing) deals with the designing of any product and control over its production. Candidates acquire skills and knowledge required to implement scientific and computer principles in solving manufacturing and engineering related problems.
The course includes both theoretical and practical sessions; hence it cannot be pursued through correspondence and candidates are advised to pursue it in regular mode to have better job options. Candidates who are willing to have a detailed understanding of techniques, methods and tools involved in computer-supported product designing and product development are suitable for this course.
The duration of this course 2 years. These 2 years are divided into 4 equal parts known as Semesters. Each semester has 6 months duration and has included final examinations at the end.
Candidates who have completed Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology with specialization in chemical or petrochemical branch and have scored at least 60% marks are eligible for this course. It should be pursued from a reputed institute and the age requirement must be checked and fulfilled at the time of application submission.
Admissions are offered through entrance tests in most of the institutes. Candidates need to submit the application and then they need to appear in the entrance tests. These can be of national level, state level, and institute level and a single candidate can appear in any or all of them. Candidates scoring top ranks in these tests get admissions very easily in top ranks institutes.
Further Study options
After completion of this course, candidates are eligible to get good jobs but still if any of them wants to pursue higher studies, they can go for M.Phil in Bio Mineral Processing, Clean Coal and Energy Technology, Drilling Engineering, Geomatics, Construction Engineering, etc.
They can also go for M.B.A. in any related subject or specialization.
Ph.D. is an option for candidates having research aptitude.
Candidates learn about Tribology, system design, and analysis, mechanisms for design synthesis, mechatronics, neural networks, instrumentation and control engineering, robotics, product design, and development, etc. The course also includes lab sessions, seminars, guest lectures, and projects.
These candidates can work as a surveyor, architectural designer, civil engineer technician, aerospace designer, lecturer, etc and can work in space research institutes, steel plants, power plants, etc very easily.
