About Diploma in Dance Course


Diploma in Dance is a three year acting, drama and dance course which mainly focus on developing students dance techniques. It makes students gain knowledge of dance history and theoretical and embodied experience of cultural forms. This course also focus on areas such as dance on screen, popular dance techniques, choreography, intensive techniques, contemporary techniques, cultural dances etc.

Eligibility Criteria


Minimum eligibility required to apply for admission to the Diploma in Dance course is to successfully pass in 10+2/ Intermediate/ 12th Standard/ HSC or equivalent level of examination from a recognized school board.

This course provide employment in entertainment sector, musical theatre and commercial dance. In this course students learn new dance techniques and forms and develops their own dance identity. In the third year of this students are made to work with professional choreographer to learn more dance techniques and to create a new ideas in dance and to perform new work.

Some of the subjects covered in the Diploma in Dance course are choreography, choreographic principles, performance practice, movement techniques, movement techniques, introduction to anatomy and body mind techniques, new media and performance practice, collaborative practice, creating group and solo work, developing choreography through cultural and experimental memory, movement techniques, dance on camera, site specific performance making, working with composers and musicians, somatic research and professional portfolio.
