Ph.D. can be done in all the fields including both theoretical and practical. Pharmacology and Toxicology are the part of science which analyzes the effects of the drugs on the body, the way it works, the associated safety aspects, common adverse experiences, etc. Basically, it is the study of the various interactions occurs between chemicals/ drugs and living organisms which affect any normal or abnormal biochemical function.

this course requires Master’s degree holders in the field of Pharmacology. Candidates holding M.Pharma, M.Phil in pharmacy or any other equivalent course from a recognized institute are eligible for this course. Other accepted disciplines are Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Biophysics, Biotechnology, etc.
Admissions are offered through national level entrance tests like CSIR/ UGC NET, DBT JRF, etc. Candidates need to appear in these tests and those who perform well can get admission in top-ranked institutes. Admissions through these tests also provide scholarships to the candidates.

Candidates need to read and learn the available literature during the initial phase of their Ph.D. This makes them understand what is already done in their field. In this subject, candidates learn about general pharmacology principles, toxicology, wonder discoveries in pharmacology, instrumentation in drug analysis, etc. A part of clinical pharmacology is also included in the course.
In the end, candidates need to submit their thesis.
They can work in clinics, hospitals, scientific labs, drug manufacturing firms, etc.
