This two years program includes one year of classwork followed by project / dissertation and or internship. The first year curriculum encompasses core and elective subjects namely parallel computing architecture, high performance computing, cloud computing, algorithm and complexity, object oriented analysis and design, networking protocols, network security, software engineering, software architecture, distributed operating systems, image processing, advanced database management systems, multimedia systems, web technologies etc. In the second year students carry out project work and are expected to publish papers in refereed journal or conference proceedings. The project is evaluated based on a presentation, dissertation and a viva.
The post graduate computer engineer are trained to work in service and manufacturing industries where they are required to develop/ design/ test/ maintain computer software or hardware. Examples of job profiles for these engineers are systems engineer, hardware engineer, software engineer, program analysts, business systems analysts, software architect, software tester etc. The engineers can be employed in either private or government organizations in computers, digital electronics, manufacturing, hospitals, colleges, telecommunication , pharmaceutical or any other business enterprises where computers are commonly used.
The next option for higher studies is doctoral research in an area of interest . The post graduate engineers can also opt for International certifications like SAP, Oracle, CISCO, CCNA, EMC, Microsoft etc. to demonstrate proficiency in specific products.
