Course curriculum

The program content is divided into two semesters, each having several trade theory and trade practical courses. The course aim at developing the all round personality of the student. In the first semester, the various systems which make a complete motor vehicle are taught except the engine and electrical. In the second semester, automobile engine and electrical are covered.

After completion of the first semester, the students should be able to:

Use workshop tools and instruments and observe safety precautions in the workshop
Understand the need and working of various system (except the engine and the electrical) on the chassis of a vehicle
Service a motor vehicle, rotate tyres
Remove braking system defects
Repair suspension and steering system defects
Overhaul clutch plate and pressure plate, transmission gear box and final drive

After completion of the second semester, the students should be able to:

Understand the working of various automobile engines
Understand about engine systems and their working
Dismount, dismantle, inspect, re-assemble and re-mount an engine
Overhaul petrol fuel system (carburetor model)
Tune a petrol engine
Troubleshoot a petrol engine
Diagnose and remove engine lubrication and cooling system faults
Check and maintain automobile battery
Repair starting, charging and lighting system defects
