About M.Tech Bioinformatics Course
Master of Technology in Bioinformatics is a two year postgraduate course which provides training in the areas like information technology, molecular biology, statistics and bioinformatics.
Minimum eligibility required to apply for admission to the M.Tech Bioinformatics course is to qualify in Bachelor's degree (B.E/ B.Tech) in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics from a recognized university with minimum aggregate score of 50%. Candidates with Master's degree in Mathematics/ Sciences/ Programming are also eligible to apply.
Generally admission procedure differ from one institute to another. Most of the institutes offer admission to the M.Tech Bioinformatics course based on candidate's performance in the GATE examination. Some reputed institute may conduct their own entrance test to offer admission.

Bioinformatics is a study of application of computer science and statistics to the field of molecular biology. This course provides students the knowledge on fields such as proteomics, genomics, metabolic pathway engineering, protein engineering, pharmacogenomics, molecular diagnostic kits, agro-biotechnology etc. It also provides knowledge required to discover the new drugs and vaccines. It also makes students understand how the life exists and works by studying the functional and structural relationships of biomolecules. It makes students proficient in tackling biology related problems.
Some of the subjects covered in the syllabus of the M.Tech Bioinformatics course are biomolecular structure interaction ans dynamics, scripting and computer environments, bioinformatics resources, computing tools, molecular modelling, thermodynamics and kinetics, statistical mechanics, quantum mechanics, introduction to nanotechnology, pattern recognition, systems biology, computational structural biology, biophysical chemistry, advanced biology, advanced bioinformatics, classical and quantum mechanics and systems biology.
