M.Tech High Voltage Engineering course also includes study and modelling of material properties in material ageing, electric fields, discharges and breakdown in liquids, solids, gases and multi-phase systems. In this course students gain knowledge on high voltage basics and its application and also the design principles and critical elements of a high voltage systems.

Some of the subjects covered in the M.Tech High Voltage Engineering course are electrical transients in power system, insulation technology, electromagnetic field computation, high voltage testing techniques, high voltage switch gear, EHV power transmission, modelling and analysis of electrical machines, micro controller and DSP based system design, flexible AC transmission systems, high voltage direct current transmission, applications of MEMS technology, design of high voltage power apparatus, estimation of electrical field strength in power apparatus and estimation of over voltage power apparatus.
