Eligibility Criteria

  1. You need to complete a master’s before you study this course, in some stipulated. These disciplines are Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Physiology, Zoology, Life Science, etc. If you have recently passed MBBS and wish to study M.Phil, then you are also eligible to apply.
  2. The students must obtain a minimum of 60% in their master’s degree. These students will be given the forms for the entrance examination conducted for M.Phil.
  3. Now, the students who will be applying in NIMHANS, will have to clear an examination with 100 questions, each being of multiple choice type. If the students obtain 50% or more marks in this examination, they will be called for a personal interview. Similarly, other institutes offering M.Phil will conduct such entrance examinations to shortlist the students. The students among the top 30-35 scorers are called for the personal interview.

Future Job Prospects

  1. Since you have completed M.Phil degree, you can apply for teaching positions in colleges. You will get extra points for having an M.Phil degree, over the other professors.
  2. You can apply for the post of research associates in various research organizations like IIT or NIT, etc. You will be given a project and you will have to process data as required by the project.
  3. You can become an assistant neurophysiologist. You will not actually treat the patient, but you will maintain and monitor all the patient data and help in the treatment.
  4. You can also become a neurophysiology technologist. You will be running the EEGs, LTVM EEGs, etc. on the patients.
