Typically, this is a four year course with applied sciences, engineering drawing, workshop etc. taught in the first year. Core and elective subjects include production technology, applied thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and machinery, mechanics of machines, fuels and lubricants, automotive diesel engines, automotive engine components, automotive electrical systems, automotive transmission, automotive materials and metallurgy, automotive pollution and control, manufacturing processes, quality control and reliability engineering etc. The courses are taught using class room based teaching, practical, tutorials and mini projects. In the final year students undergo project work and internship which depends on the university curriculum.
The graduates can be placed in automobile and allied industry, software solutions, product and technology etc. in production, quality, design, instrumentation and testing departments.
If interested in research activity, the graduate can opt for Master’s in Automobile engineering or equivalent program of interest.
