The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication or IETE has a lot of membership genres. You can apply for any of such memberships depending on your qualification and job experiences if any. If you become an associate member for 3 years then your subscription fee will be Rs.400. If you become a member for 4 years your subscription fee will be Rs.500.

Eligibility for this membership

  1. To become an associate member of IETE, your age must be above 20 years, by the time you apply.

  2. You need to clear the AMIETE examination. The passing criteria or the cut-off marks for selection in this membership may vary. This is basically decided by the administrative department of the IETE.
  3. If option two is not applicable for you, then there is another option for you. You need to be a graduate in either engineering or B.Sc.
    If you are a then you must be either from electronics or Electrical or related fields. If you are from B.Sc. then you can be from Physics honors or Electronics honors stream.

Eligibility for the AMIETE examination

  1. This is a an examination of graduate level. So the basic eligibility for this examination is that a student must pass 10+2 (with core subjects as Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics). Even if you are from a 3 year diploma course in engineering, then also you are eligible to apply.
  2. You must be a student member of IETE, before you apply in AMIETE. So you need apply for the student membership first.The examination is held in June and December. So for such examinations, you must be a student member before February or August respectively.
  3. You can apply 2 times for this examination. So you must clear this AMIETE examination in these two times.

  • You can meet the tech support of the IETE centers in person. You can get to visit the research laboratories of the IETE centers and work there at your convenience.
  • Final advantage is that you get to participate in the technical quizzes or essay competitions held personally either by IETE or any other corporate sponsor. There are also contests on publication of really innovative papers. All this facilities are offered to the members.
