Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) is a Graduate level course and is solely dedicated for computer studies. It gives detailed knowledge about computer applications, languages like C++, etc.
It also includes financial accounting and operation management. This course is typically designed as per the requirements of IT companies.
All science stream candidates who have passed their 12th examinations from reputed institute are eligible for this course. There may be some eligibility criteria of minimum passing marks in 12th at some reputed institutes and that may vary from one institute to another.
For admission in BCA, candidates have to appear in Entrance tests for most of the reputed universities. For that, they are required to submit a fully filled application form along with other required documents and application fee. After submission of application form, they will receive an Admit card for entrance exam.
The final selection will be based on performance in entrance exam.
Being Graduation degree, it is a 3 years long course. These 3 years are divided into 6 semesters. This course is not available in distance learning code of education.
Further study options
After completion of BCA, candidate can pursue Post Graduation degree like MCA. Interested candidates can also go for MS from other countries. MBA, and MSc in computer Science are also open for these graduates.
After post graduation degree, research degrees can also be pursued like M.Phil and PhD.
The BCA graduates are in demand not only in India but also in other countries. They can easily find a job in IT companies like Infosys, IBM, TCS, Oracle, etc. They can start their career as programmer and then as senior programmer.
They can work as a Software developer or designer in reputed companies like Microsoft. In big corporate companies, System Administrator like post is for these candidates only.
They also have government job options in NIC, Indian Air Force, Navy, etc where they need computer experts to work in IT departments.
If a candidate is interested in teaching, he or she can join Training companies like Cisco and NIIT.
The main part of course is covered by computer related practical sessions to teach each and every details of subject. During exams also, candidates needs to appear in practical and qualify them separately.
