The course comprises of eight semesters. As a part of the curriculum the students will undergo basic foundational subjects like physics, maths, applied chemistry, applied mechanics, engineering drawing etc. The second and the third year covers the basic subjects of telecommunication. Almost all subjects will have theory along with practicals. Based on the telecommunication fundamentals covered the students will opt for elective/ specialization in the final year along with project. Some colleges offer project +internship in the final semester. The course is designed to provide the basic concepts, hands on practice and a project which prepares the student to face the real world.
This course has ample job opportunities in the telecommunication domain. For example telecom providers such as Vodafone, Airtel, Reliance , Idea etc. and leading IT MNCs. Jobs are also available in various telecom fields like telecom security, telecom standards and regulations, network management, internet service providers, satellite TV companies. Various R&D Labs also employ telecommunication graduates for research in design of telecommunication equipment and devices. There are good career opportunities in building military and defense applications.
Graduates can opt for ME or M Tech in Telecommunication Engineering or MBA in Marketing or Operations and later if desired can go for Doctoral studies.
