About the BBA Course
Bachelor of Business Administration is a course specifically designed towards creating managers who perform their role with the correct combination and wisdom and fervour. With the world growing towards a greater sense of globalization, there is a need for leaders and managers who are able to quickly adapt and bridge the cultural differences and are able to avail the numerous opportunities arising as a direct result.
Where once there was heavy stress laid upon the fundamentals of profit and loss, BBA courses now give equal stress and importance to proficiency in communicative and written English, which is evolving as a universal language. The core subjects, however, have not undergone any change. BBA courses in some institutions also focus on the Social and Humanities aspect of the knowledge imparted. The section on the Social Core focusses on issues of personal and professional ethics; social responsibility; the role of law in business and; and the interconnections between corporations, markets, cultures, governments, and the global society at large. Some of the subjects focussed on include Business and Society, Organizational Communications, Law, Business & Society, Professional Responsibility. The overall aim of a BBA course is to produce graduates who are able to communicate and implement their ideas effectively through writing or through interpersonal communication. Such a graduate should be able to make informed decisions about usage of appropriate technology in the different domains they might be exposed to. A BBA graduate must be able to integrate and manage administrative systems and be able to apply the theories of organizational behaviour in a productive manner.
The typical duration of the BBA course is three years long, split into six semesters, though, in certain institutes, the course may be offered for a duration of four years split into eight semesters. Typically, the beginning semesters include subjects of fundamental importance, and the course proceeds towards increasing levels of diversity in higher semesters. It is only the fifth semester onwards usually, that students begin specializing in the various other domains of Business Administration.
Eligibility for the Course
The rules of eligibility for the BBA course are quite relaxed. Now students from any background are welcomed into the course provided they successfully pass a High School Certificate examination with a minimum of 55-70% marks, depending on the institute they want to apply to.
