Meaning: a lot of money.
Mostly used in informal sense.
It is used in a negative sense i.e when you are losing money while paying for something.Even if you have lot of money you should not write "I have an arm and a leg"


Sample Usage

1)This dress cost me an arm and a leg.
2) It cost me an arm and a leg to bring it back.
