Pandemic is an adjective.

Meaning: prevalent over a whole country or the world i.e. which is widespread across a large geographic area.Though it is used in case of issues that are general and are widespread ,it is mostly used to refer to a disease that is spread across a wide area.

Root of the word: "DEMOS" which means "people"

Synonyms: endemic

Antonyms: local, concentrated

1) Doctors are trying to ensure that bird flu does not become pandemic.

2) There is a pandemic fear of the nuclear explosion that is going to be experimented tomorrow.

3) There has been a pandemic outbreak of swine flu that had killed more than 1000 people.

4) The last ball that determines the winner of the match had created a pandemic tension across people.
