Note : Answer any five questions in about 600 words each. All questions carry equal marks.
1. Answer any two of the following in about 300 words each : (10x2)
(i) Discuss the role of bureaucracy in the modern state.
(ii) Why did Industrial Revolution first take place in England ?
(iii) What was the nature of planned industrialisation in the USSR ?
(iv) What led to the division of Europe into two armed camps before the First World War ?
2. Examine the factors that led to the American Revolution. Whatwas its outcome ? (20)
3. What do you understand by Bonaparism ? Discuss the political reorganisation of France under Louis Napoleon. (20)
4. Why was Russia a late starter in industrialization ? How was Russia's industrialization different from England ? (20)
5. Discuss the factors that led to the emergence of modern class society. In what way was it different from pre-modern society ? (20)
6. Discuss the political development in Germany between the two World Wars. (20)
7. Analyse the political and economic changes introduced by the Soviet government after the Revolution of 1917. (20) 8. Write a note on the economic reconstrucion of Europe after the Second World war. (20)
9. Discuss the growth of nationlism in East European countries. (20)
10. Write a note on the nature of indirect colonial rule with reference to China and Lathin America. (20)
