Instructions for Students:

There are two sets of questions in this paper. The first set (Part I) belongs to the Old Syllabus and the second (Part II) belong to the New Syllabus. Please answer only one set applicable to you.

Answer all questions of the set you are attempting.

You must mention 'Old Syllabus' or 'New Syllabus' in bold letters on your answer sheet.

Part I (Old Syllabus)

Note: All questions are compulsory.

1. Define low birth weight baby. Enumerate the problems among different types of low birth weight babies. Write down the principles of care of low birth weight babies at home. (2+6+8=16)

2. Define Acute Flaccid Paralysis and discuss the differential diagnosis of Acute Flaccid Paralysis. (2+8=10)

3. Write short notes on: (8x3=24)
(a) Tuberculin skin test
(b) Metered Dose Inhaler
(c) Scabies

4. Discuss briefly (7+7+6=20)
(a) Benign murmurs
(b) Differential diagnosis of rash with fever
(c) Universal precautlons

Part II (New Syllabus)

Note : All questions are compulsory.

1. How will you assess and classify a child with diarrhoea? Write down the fluid management for severe dehydration in a child age 15 months, weighing 10 kg. (4+6+5=15)

2. Answer the following questions Case study : Mahesh is 7 months old and classified as No Anemia and not very low weight. On assessment of child's feeding, you find that mother is giving breast feeding 8 times in 24 hours day and night. She is also giving cow's milk with feeding bottle along with thin gruel (1 - 2 teaspoon) twice a day.
(a) Describe the feeding problems in this case.
(b) What are the correct things the mother is doing?
(c) What feeding advice is needed? (5x3=15)

3. Write short notes on:
(a) Vaccine Vial Monitor
(b) AFP Surveillance
(c) Kangaroo-Mother Care

4. Discuss briefly the following: (5+6+5=16)
(a) Treatment of baby born to mother with tuberculosis
(b) Complimentary feeding
(c) Physiological jaundice
