These artificial satellites do not fall because they are going too fast to do so. As they speed along, they tend to go straight off into the space. The pull of the earth or its gravity keeps them from doing this. As a result, they travel in an orbit round the earth like moon. They keep going on and on round the earth because there is no atmosphere to slow down by the friction of the air. If a satellite travel fster than a certain speed it will go off in a straight line into the space and escape the pull of the earth never to return.
