Instructions for the students :
1. All questions are compulsory.
2. “Long Answer type Question (LAQ)” is a supply type question of 20 marks,
which require typical answer of about 60-80 lines in about 32-40 minutes.
3. “Short Answer type Question (SAQ)” is a supply type question of 5 marks,
which require typical answer of about 15-20 lines in about 08-10 minutes.
4. Use of non-programmable type of scientific calculator is allowed.
5. Draw neat diagrams wherever neces
Long Answer type Questions (LAQ’s)
1. (a) Describe the process of generation of chrominance signal
with a suitable block diagram and related expressions.
(b) Describe SECAM (coder, decoder) colour television system.
2. (a) What is shadow mask ? Give the constructional details of
shadow mask type picture tube.
(b) How will you trouble shoot the Remote Control System ?
Which are the trouble symptoms commonly encountered in
the remote control system ? How would you rectify them ?
3. (a) Describe the working of RF tuner. Explain the process of
Automatic Fine Tuning with a block diagram.
(b) Explain in detail the sequence of operation involved in
i) Colour purity adjustment
ii) Gray scale adjustment
iii)Convergence adjustments in Samsung colour TV receiver
4 (a) Explain the different cable connections in cable TV system.
(b) Briefly explain the differences between the NTSC, PAL and
SECAM system.
Short Answer type Questions (SAQ’s)
5. Draw the colourplexed composite video signal for equally spaced
R,G, B, Black and white information.
6. Describe the different service controls for colour TV receiver. 5
7. What are the adjustments provided in ITT (German) colour
receiver ?
8. What are the general safety rules and practices observed in
television system ?
